Enjoying the struggle

I love my kids especially this little guy.

He is spirited, challenging, and ornery as can be. Basically he is a little version of me. Of course when you are photographing kids you have to meet them where they are at. He didn’t want to sit up. He didn’t want to smile. Quite frankly, he didn’t want to be there. Isn’t that just like our kids– the moments we need them to behave the most they decide to act up.

So what did I do? Well, I did exactly what I do any time he decides to act like a stinker. I started acting silly. Then he started to smile and that smile turned into a laugh. He was still stubborn– but I didn’t “force” him to do anything he didn’t want to do.

No…I didn’t get the picture I thought I wanted of him sitting up next to his sister. But I still go this great picture is so my sweet boy.

And I got some nice pictures of my curious little girl.

Tip of the day: Meet your kids where they are at and enjoy the process.
